Morris Kaberia

Morris Kaberia is a Legal Officer at Justice Defenders in Kenya, an internationally recognized organization that trains paralegals and lawyers within prisons to provide legal services for themselves and others. Morris studied in his rural home for primary and secondary school and was enrolled as a police officer with the Kenya police service in 1993, where he worked until he was arrested in 2005. In 2013–after spending eight years in remand–he was charged, convicted and sentenced to death for the offense of robbery with violence. While incarcerated, Morris joined Justice Defenders as a paralegal in 2014 and completed his LLB with the University of London. Morris filed his own appeal at the High Court of Kenya, representing himself and winning his freedom. Morris is passionate about fair and equal justice for all. He is a social justice advocate and a campaigner for the reintegration of formerly incarcerated persons into society. Morris joined the Kenya School of Law in February 2023 to complete his advocate training program and become a barrister.
